چکیده

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are of high concern to public health due their carcinogenic and mutagenic properties. Here, we present the first comprehensive quantitative analysis sources, potential source regions according sectors source-related human risks multi-year atmospheric measurements PAHs in Canadian Great Lakes Basin (GLB). The highest PAH concentrations were observed at a rural residential site (Egbert), followed by two regionally representative remote sites [Point Petre (PPT) Burnt Island]. levels most GLB atmosphere significantly decreased between 1997 2017, broadly consistent with decreasing trends anthropogenic emissions. Coal, liquid fossil fuel, biomass burning common sources. for identified south or southwest sampling sites. Risk assessment suggests associated inhalation PAHs. On positive note, from coal combustion, fuel petrogenic sources PPT decreased, directly demonstrating success emission control reducing impacts. In contrast, risk forest fire-related emissions may play an increasing role future climate change.

Assessment of Sources and Health Risks of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the Street Dust of Dezful City

Street dust is mainly affected by the pollution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). PAHs are a group of organic pollutants consisting of two or more benzene rings and are mainly produced during incomplete combustion. PAHs have attracted widespread attention due to their high carcinogenic and mutagenic properties in humans. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the sour...

Sources, properties and health risks of carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

In the present review article focus on highlighting the sources, properties and health risks of carcinogenic PAHs both on human health and environment. Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) comprises a broad family of compounds that are also described as semi volatile organic compounds (SVOC). This term refers to the fact that PAHs are distributed between gas and particle phases. In fast budd...

Concentrations, sources and temporal trends in atmospheric polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in a major conurbation.

Concentrations of atmospheric PAH were separately determined in total suspended particulate matter and associated vapour phase in ambient air in Birmingham, UK. Samples of 24 h duration were taken simultaneously at two locations (the Bristol Road Observatory Site, BROS, and the Elms Road Observatory Site, EROS) on 44 separate occasions every one to two weeks between October 1999 and January 200...

Atmospheric polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons: Source attribution, emission factors and regulation

There is an increasing concern about the occurrence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the environment as they are ubiquitous in ambient air and some of them are among the strongest known carcinogens. PAHs and their derivatives are produced by the incomplete combustion of organic material arising, partly, from natural combustion such as forest and volcanic eruption, but with the majo...

Atmospheric polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in Mumbai, India

Atmospheric particulate PAH concentrations were measured at two locations in Mumbai (formerly Bombay), India. Total PAH concentrations (seven compounds) at Saki Naka and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) were 38.8 and 24.5 ng m~3. Pyrene and benz(a)anthracene#chrysene were abundant at both sites while benzo(b)#uoranthene and benzo(k)#uoranthene were abundant, in addition, at the IIT site. Th...
